Checkatrade
Customers browse listed, vetted trades and make contact. Paid members pay a membership, often on a 12-month plan. Many trades also report extra per-lead charges. We do not quote their current plan prices because they vary by trade and area.
TradieSwap
Customers post a job, trades express interest free, the customer selects up to five, then we charge a published lead fee and share details. See the full fee list.
When TradieSwap is the better spend
- You do not want a monthly bill in a quiet month.
- You want the fee in writing before you commit.
- You want fewer names released per job (cap of 5).
- You want to know if that customer pays on time and treats trades fairly.
When Checkatrade still makes sense
Their brand and badge are strong. Some homeowners start there. We do not tell you to drop a directory that is already winning you work. Use TradieSwap for jobs posted here.
Verification
We check ID, public liability and qualifications, then delete the files. That is a point-in-time check, not a guarantee the insurance is still valid or that the work will be good. We do not claim to run "12 checks" or any figure we cannot stand behind.
